====== Modpack ====== To join our server you need to install some associated mods. They are distributed as a **modpack**. Once installed, the modpack automatically updates itself whenever we upgrade mods on the server, there's no need to manually update mods. ===== Tutorial for Installing ===== The following instructions will involve copying and pasting a link into your launcher. You can copy that link here: https://github.com/Minecraft-Transit-Railway/LetsPlay-Packwiz/archive/refs/heads/master.zip * Click the **Add Instance** button on the top-left corner. * Click **Import from ZIP** on the left side, then paste the link into the field on the right. And then click OK. * **Make sure Java 17 is selected.** To edit that, select the new instance, click the "edit" button on the right, select "Settings" on the left, tick the "Java installation" checkbox and click on "Auto-detect". \\ {{:mtr_letsplay:prism_java_setting.png?nolink&600|}} \\ Select an entry starting with "17" in the dialog. If none is present, [[https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase/jdk17-archive-downloads.html|download Java 17 from Oracle]]. * **Assigning 6 GiB or more to Java is recommended.** Tick the "Memory" checkbox right below "Java installation" and set "Maximum memory allocation" to at least 6144 MiB. (Also, If your PC has less than 16 GiBs of RAM in total, it might be insufficient for gameplay on LetsPlay.) \\ This is not "the more the better", you should consider the total amount of RAM installed on your computer and leave at least 4 GiBs to spare. * Double click the new instance. Wait a bit and you'll see a window like this: You must own a genuine Minecraft account purchased from Mojang to join our server. Offline ("cracked") login is not supported and won't work. Click on each item to view its features. Please choose according to your preference and check the box in front of the mods you want to install. You can also later come back to install or remove them in the future, by clicking "Optional mods..." after starting the game. ===== Joining the Server ===== Wait a while - it might take a few minutes until the game window appears. After launching the game, the resource pack will be downloaded. A menu will appear for you to choose which server to download from — simply press Enter. Then, please allow a few minutes for the resource pack to be prepared. After entering the Minecraft main menu, adjust the language as needed, and enter "Multiplayer". The server address has already been pre-set in the list, so click on it to join. ===== Additional Mods ===== To install more additional mods that you prefer, simply drop them into the mods folder. The updater knows which files are added by you and won't delete them. ===== Moving your previous stuff over ===== In case you've been previously playing and want to keep your Map, Distant Horizons data etc., simply move the associated folders inside ''%%.minecraft%%'' over. These might include ''%%Distant_Horizons_server_data%%'', ''%%XaeroWorldMap%%'', ''%%XaeroWaypoints%%'', etc. ===== Troubleshooting ===== Sometimes when attempting to join the Let's Play Server, you may encounter some errors, especially on your first attempt. Below are some common situations. ====Registry remapping failed==== This error occurs when a mod required for joining the server has not been installed correctly. In many cases, the [[mtr_letsplay:modpack|Modpack]] has not been installed correctly or a mod has downloaded incorrectly, so please check the installation procedure again. ====Connection reset==== This error generally occurs when the socket connection is closed by the other side. To resolve this, please check your internet and firewall settings, or try reconnecting after a while. ====Please update your Resource Pack Updater (You are now using N/A)==== You have not properly set up packwiz, this is usually because the JVM arguments were not added. Try following the guide again and look for the part that tells you to add Java arguments to your installation. ====Invalid Session==== This can sometimes be resolved by restarting Minecraft and the launcher as instructed by the error. ====Failed to resolve username==== You are either using a cracked Minecraft launcher, which cannot connect to the server and is against rule 6, or your launcher isnt properly logged into your Minecraft account, usually due to a bad login token. Please try logging out and then logging back in. ====Disconnected, server closed==== The Let's Play Server restarts every day at 20:00 UTC. You will be notified via chat about 5 minutes in advance. Please wait for a while and then reconnect.
